Runtime Verification at Queen's
CritLab head Dr. Sean Kauffman co-chaired the 26th International Conference on Runtime Verification, which was hosted at Queen’s on October 6-8, 2026. The event was held in the Rose Innovation Hub in Mitchell Hall on Queen’s main campus.
The conference hosted an impressive lineup of keynote speakers: Hazem Torfah from Chalmers University of Technology spoke on the first day of the conference, followed by Mauricio Castillo-Effen from Lockheed Martin, Joseph Tassarotti from NYU and Amzaon, and finally Ruzica Piskac from Yale University.
The quality of the work presented at the conference was high (as always) and there were many good talks. The Best Paper Award was presented to M. Chalupa, T. Henzinger, and A. Oliveira da Costa for their work Monitoring Hyperproperties over Observed and Constructed Traces. A new award was introduced for the Best Tool that was presented to A. Thomsen, N. Madsen, V. Evans, T. Wright, L. Esterle, and P. Larsen for mstlo: Efficient Online Monitoring of Signal Temporal Logic. The Test-of-Time Award was presented to B. Finkbeiner and H. Sipma for their 2001 paper, Checking Finite Traces using Alternating Automata.
All current (and one former) CritLab members volunteered at the conference, helping out with registration, handling the microphone for questions, and showing guests where to go to find various functions. They also helped out with some preparation by designing t-shirts, filling swag bags, printing name tags, picking up trophies, and many other little things that helped make the event go smoothly!
